When your envelopes remain sealed and unopened you can’t very well make money with that. You need to have your target clients look at what’s inside your envelope printing. Because only then will you be able to influence their buying decisions with your print collaterals. But before they even lay their eyes on your message, it all starts with your envelopes.

Sadly, many recipients of your direct mail often find themselves discarding readily your envelopes without even opening it. You can be sure that that means a sizable waste of your investment – your time, energy and money that you put in creating your envelope printing. You just can’t afford to have your print envelope discarded right away unopened. To reduce wastage, here are some ideas that you can apply to your envelope printing so it won’t get instantly thrown in the trash the next time:

- Don’t allow your recipients to treat your envelope like junk; so don’t mail your marketing collaterals in material that look like junk mail.
- Don’t use mailing labels as they only make your envelope look like junk mail.
- Use your computer to put the address in your custom envelopes.
- If you have to use labels, then color print it.
- Don’t just use the ordinary white envelope; accessorize and use colored ones instead.
- Don’t use ordinary postage for your direct mail. Instead, use first class postage and print the words ‘first class’ all over your envelope.
- Do not use a rubber stamp to apply your return address. It looks unprofessional. But if you must, be sure to have a rubber stamp in red ink to add an official impact to your direct mail.
- Have a print shop print your return address rather than do it on your own. It won’t cost you much anyway so go out and do it.
- If you can, apply a colored font to address your envelopes.
- Put a slogan or a one line pitch in your envelope as a short message to your recipients.
- Rubber stamp a message which has the word ‘free’ in your outgoing envelopes.
- Use commemorative stamps rather than the regular ones.
- Apply a design to your otherwise boring and standard white envelope. It will surely attract attention and get your recipients to open your envelope.
- Utilize window envelopes.
- Use large envelopes instead of the regular sized ones. And then put more print collaterals inside. The more you tell of your business, the more you’ll be able to sell your products and services.

Getting your envelopes opened is not that difficult. If you just think of creative ways to design and give a new meaning to your mailing accessory, you’re more likely to have your recipients wanting to open your envelope printing and see what’s inside.
