It’s a fact: marketing is an essential process that you need to do if you’re in business. There’s no doubt that many expert marketers and thousands of marketing strategies concentrate on conveying the message that marketing is significant to the success of any business.

So if you have to market your business, how do you do it? And is it really true that if you opt not to market, will you fail miserably? It’s both a yes and a no to answer this question.

Yes, you need to market your business in order for you to let your target clients know about you. But no, you don’t need to utilize a marketing campaign that you’re not comfortable with. Failure then to succeed in your business depends on what would make you enjoy and be comfortable when you promote everything about you.

Let me explain.

You need to market; there’s no doubt about it. If you want to let people to know about you, what can you possibly do to get the word out? Marketing strategies. But it is also a fact that you don’t need to market IF you’re not comfortable with the strategy. This just means that you don’t have to do it the same way that everybody’s doing it. It’s all in the strategy that would make you successful or not.

The essential word here is “comfortable”. You should really look for a marketing campaign that you’re very much comfortable with. Not everybody for example would be satisfied with having custom business cards for their introductory tools. You can have email messages or even online interactive color business cards that you can send to everyone in your database and your target market. It’s a misconception indeed that you have to do what the others are doing. On the contrary, you should only utilize a strategy that you’ll be comfortable with and that you know you can be the best.

From handing out custom business cards to creating your website and e-newsletter, there are a hundred and thousand ways to market. In fact, there are really many ways to skin a cat. And in all kinds of ways for that matter. The bottom line is to find out what you can be most comfortable with and utilize it to your advantage.

Not everyone can be a salesperson or even a print machine of marketing collaterals such as custom business cards for example. You don’t have to do what everybody’s doing if you feel uncomfortable about it. Nevertheless, that should also not stop you from promoting who and what you have to others. You just have to find other ways to let your target market know about you. It should not only be something that you’re comfortable with, but your marketing strategy should fit the type of brand that you have.
