Do you often come across target clients and prospects and they tell you that your product or service is quite familiar? Or even when someone sees your company name, do they ask “Why do I know you?” This just goes to show that whether you’re marketing to a small community or even a big and developed city, you can become the business that everyone thinks they know but just can’t put a finger on where they know you from.

The advantage of this scenario is that at least people recognize you from your marketing efforts such as notepads or your custom notepad printing. Consumers will definitely be asking for your product if they believe that you can give them the benefits that they’re looking for. The downside however is that it’s so obvious that your logo or name doesn’t strike any interest or distinction that people can forget your name that easily.

So whether it’s an advantage or a disadvantage for you, you got to make your business stick to the minds of your clients and prospects. And the way to become a celebrity is for you to participate and be aware of your community.

That’s right. You can go local if you want your marketing campaign such as your notepads to achieve more of your goals. Participating in just about anything and everything that is going on in your local community can get you the best exposure for your business.

You might say that having a business is a lot of work and that you might not have time to become a local celebrity. True; but getting your target market, especially the local ones, to get to know you should be at the top of your priority lists. And getting your business known locally is one if the best ways (did I mention the cheapest?) to get the word out about you.

And you don’t have to be in everything anyway. You just have to know how to choose your battles wisely, or in this case, your local events. A couple of things to help you become well-known in your community:

Join your community’s Chamber of Commerce. Don’t be satisfied with just having your name listed in the directory. Go out and make a conscious effort to be part of the activities of the organization. If your time permits, go and join a committee. Just a few hours of your time in a week or a month can already get you the mileage you need to become popular in your locality.

Be friendly with the locals. Be ready to make acquaintances and talk to people even if you’re out on a break and having your coffee. Each place and every person you see is an opportunity to market your product or service. And this includes having a smile for everyone and anyone. Haven’t you heard that one smile can make a huge difference? So be ready to flash that smile!

Being part of your community can make you remembered and recognized by your target market. So don’t be left behind. Join your community’s events and be a popular celebrity now.
