GHB is considered to be an anti depressant drug or even a nutritional supplement in some countries of the world. In some others it is illegal due to its psychoactive action. There is a significant amount of people suffering from GHB effects, mostly due to drug abuse.

At low doses GHB can offer the patient relief from conditions such as anxiety and panic attacks, producing relaxation. Due to its chemical characteristics though, combination of this drug with other ones, and especially alcohol can prove dramatic, resulting in several serious or less serious conditions. GHB abuse can have several withdrawal symptoms as well. The most known GHB effects are nausea and vomiting, dizziness, amnesia, drowsiness, loss of muscle control, shortness of breath, tremors, loss of consciousness, slurred speech, desire to sleep, passing out and death – death usually occurs as a result of combining the drug with alcohol.

Patients who get addicted to GHB have rarely the strength and ability to control the consumption of the drug and increase the doses progressively. The increase of doses can increase the severity of these effects and result in coma and death even without combining the drug with other drugs or alcohol. GHB abuse is considered to be dangerous and lethal; therefore, if you or someone you know suffers from mild GHB effects, you should seek for help before it is too late.

GHB has also been used in cases of rapes, especially the so called date rape – this is an additional reason why it is illegal in many countries. The drug can be put in a drink without anyone noticing it, as it doesn’t alter the taste of the drink and doesn’t have any particular aroma or flavor.

According to the experts even the smallest increase in dose can cause death, while the effects are greater and last longer than usually expected, as the drug eliminates the body’s ability to deal with its results.
