If you are looking to reduce your wedding budget then buying a second-hand or pre-worn wedding dress is a great way to save some money and maybe find an original design into the bargain.
Not so long ago it would be unthinkable to contemplate buying a dress for your wedding day which had already been worn by someone else but nowadays charity chic and vintage style are buzzwords you will see in the fashion press and general media quite often.
Some well known charity shops have even set up their own bridal departments to cope with demand and you’ll often find some great vintage fashion shops in the trendiest of shopping districts.
Once you start to consider the prospect of finding a second hand wedding dress you’ll start to appreciate the obvious advantages. Obviously cost is going to be a major factor and you’ll more than likely get a real bargain. It’s not unusual for designer wedding gowns to found at a fraction of their original cost in some of these stores.
Finding a Good Second Hand Wedding Dress
As already mentioned, charity shops and vintage clothing specialists are obvious calls; there are also several specialist internet retailers who offer brides the opportunity to sell their wedding dresses online and these are certainly worth a perusal. Online auctions are another source and there are many bargains to be found.
Dress Sizing
When buying vintage wedding wear it’s worth remembering that standard sizes have altered significantly over the years so you may need to opt for a size or two above your regular measurements, just in case. Bearing in mind that most wedding dresses will require some alterations as the day approaches then this isn’t much of an issue and it’s much easier to take a dress in then it is to let one out.
