Over the last few months there has been a lot of media coverage of the economic downturn, widely referred to as the ‘credit crunch’.Large numbers of people are understandably being very cautious when spending money, especially on goods which are deemed a luxury. The fall of many long standing retailers has come as a surprise to many. How much of the high street difficulties can be attributed to media influence is debateable, as is how long the credit crunch will last, but one thing is clear – there are bargains to be found as retailers attempt to shift stock.

Televisions and associated technologies have advanced remarkably over recent years, with the advent of Blu Ray DVDs, High Definition (HD) and TV packages which allow for programmes to be paused and rewound. CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) TV models have been widely replaced by slimmer,more attractive looking plasma screens or LDC (Liquid Crystal Display) models.
