Chartered Accountancy is amongst one of the widely accepted accounting profession in the corporate world that not only offers private practice opportunities to a qualified chartered accountant but it also opens up the opportunity to take up a job with a profile of choice. Such flexibility helps a CA to plan his/her career options in a more structured fashion as the profession gives the professional a chance to evaluate his/her interest areas and accordingly take up the job in the related field or else he has also the option to commence his own Practice in the accounting, taxation and other related areas.

Among the masses, though the general feedback is that Chartered Accountancy is one of the most difficult professional examinations to crack, however there is nothing which can be construed as a difficult task if pursued with the dedication and hard work which it calls for. In other words, Regularity and sincerity are the pillars of success for students pursuing CA–CS–CWA exam courses.

To begin with, a student needs to enroll with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – ICAI for appearing in the first level i.e. the Common Proficiency Test also known as CPT after passing Class X exam conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto. Students can however appear for the CPT examination only after they appeared for their Senior Secondary Examination-(10+2).

After a student has cleared the CPT examination he/she needs to join the next level i.e. Professional Competence Examination-PCC. At the same time, the student also need to register for Articled Training and also need to register for 100 hours of Information technology Training after passing CPT and 10+2 exam.

After clearing the PCC exam and fulfilling other mandatory criteria in respect of practical training etc a student need to register for the CA Final course and then appear for the Final examination which of now is also conduced twice a year i.e. in May and in November every year.

After the student has appeared for and cleared the CA Final examination, certificate of GMCS training need to be obtained from ICAI to enroll for membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

To facilitate students at large the Institute makes every attempt to make sure that the CA exams – all levels (CPT–PCC–Final) are being conducted in all major cities across Indian which includes Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Patna, Indore and at various other cities and towns across India. A detailed listing of all centers for the CA examinations can be obtained directly from the website of ICAI or by contacting the Institute. The Institute has recently also commenced conducting CPT examination Online for greater student ease and comfort.
