Positive thinking and action has always been the way to accomplish and create good and this also applies to dog obedience training. Most people think of dogs as animals that can be abuse and use to release their anger. Dog have feelings and you can use this idea to train your dog to behave for you.

This method stands in stark contrast to outmoded dog training methods which included inhumane measures. Trying to force your dog to change behavior under intimidation or pain is not longer a method to train your dog.

Work training your dog like you would teach your child how to do something. If you cannot show love, understanding, and patience, while dog training, then let someone else train your dog. Forcing your dog to learn new behaviors can leave deep seated fear in your dog that will last a life time.

Here are some ways to make dog obedience training with positive reinforcement an easier process for you and your best friend: Use these tips to train your dog and make good training progress.

1. The rewards to give your dog. Before you start training your dog, decide what kind of reward you want to give him. You want your dog to be excited about what you give him. If he is excited, he will do anything you say, as he gains understanding as to what you want, to get that reward. You should only use this reward for training and not as his regular rewards at home.

2. Timing is everything when you do dog obedience training. When you give a command and your dog obeys, you need to give them a reward immediately so that they will associate the behavior with the treat. If you wait, your dog won’t understand why they’re getting the treat – make sure to give rewards promptly and this will improve your dog training results.

You can use a helper to train your dog, called a clicker. This clicker is a metal device that you hold in your hand. But don’t be clicking it when you are not training. When you tell your dog to do something, “no jump” and he stops jumping, click the clicker and immediately give your dog a reward. The clicker can be an effective train tool, since it combines your voice, the click, and a reward for your dog.

You don’t have to use the clicker, but some people like it. Use your voice as a clicker. When you give a command try to keep the same pitch and tone. Give a command feeling positive and strong. Don’t use this voice tone when you are not training your dog.

When you start with your dog obedience training, determine what type of command technique you will use. Don’t use the clicker one day and your strong voice the next. Always be consistent with the way you train your dog. This will eventually let your dog know that it is training time. If you make training fun, your dog will look forward to dog training time.

No matter how smart your dog may be, they have a very limited capacity to understand human speech. They can learn, but you’ll need to use consistent repetition of the markers and rewards with the associated action in order to cement this positive behavior in your dogs’ mind.

Use love and understanding during your dog obedience training is what you want to do. You dog will sense if you are upset and angry. If he senses love, he will respond and try to make you happy by trying to do what you want. Take your time and love your dog and both of you will survive the training sessions.
