When you print calendars, they should usually last a year right? Unfortunately though, not all calendars make it throughout the year. This is usually caused by low quality calendar printing, and bad printing options. To prevent this from happening here are a few tips on how to make long lasting and durable products for calendar printing.
1. Giving it a hard back – The first thing that you can do to make your color calendars more durable is to give it a hard back. This means placing some nice hard cardboard or thick paper as the back page or base of your calendar. This protects the calendar from the surface of the wall or desk especially if there happens to be moisture and other kinds of substances that are present in them. By protecting your calendar from these surface substances, the chances of the calendar from absorbing moisture and dirt is lessened, giving the calendar a longer life. This is particularly useful for table calendars which are usually moved around in your desk as you go about your office work.
2. Thick and strong paper stock – Besides the back though, you should of course focus as well on the actual calendar paper stock. The calendar paper should be thick and strong which should able to resist a year’s worth of accidental tears and stresses. Flimsy and light paper can easily deteriorate even after the first month of use. When you compare it with high quality thick paper, you should realize how it really helps make the calendar’s life longer and more useful.
3. Resistant coating – Also, the calendar paper stock can also be set to have some resistant coatings in them. This can be in a form of ultra-violet protection coating and aqueous coating. These coating techniques offer some degree of resistance to liquids while still protecting the paper from harsh penetrating light that can damage the designs of the calendar. Of course, these also provide a way of hardening the paper material of a calendar more making it tougher as well to face various environmental effects.
4. Plastic calendars – Lastly, if you have a big budget for calendar printing, then you may want to invest in printing plastic calendars. A plastic calendar is the epitome of durability for custom calendars. Plastic materials are resistant to many forms of environmental effects like moisture, dirt, dust, heat and cold. It is also hard to tear and break making them last longer than your typical color calendar. In fact, they are so durable that they may even last for over a year. So if you have a good marketing message that you want to last for more than a year, you may want to go for plastic calendars.
Great! Those are the best things that you can do to make your calendars last long. You can use the first three tips for your paper calendars which are cheaper, while you can use the last tip if you have some money for plastic calendars. Depending on the whole purpose of your calendar you may want one or the other type as the appropriate choice. Good Luck!
