Before you go right ahead and approve of your final proof for your marketing collaterals such as your newsletter printing, you might want to consider these tips to help you reduce if not eliminate the errors that can cost you later on when you print newsletters:

1-Ask your newsletter printing company if they can change the size. When you change your size you can also lessen your costs. This means that you can save as much of your budget especially if they’ll be able to print on a much smaller scale as well as a smaller printing press. In addition, if you need only small volumes of your print newsletters, there are companies that can provide you with smaller print runs so you won’t have the regular costs applied to your print job.

2-Be sure to have a final print quantity in mind so you won’t make changes every now and then. This means having the final volume for your collaterals. If you need them in hundreds or thousands, be sure to have your final amount ready. It doesn’t pay for you to suddenly change your mind when the printing is already in progress. And be sure to consider ‘run-ons’ – these are extended first runs that many printers provide when running the print job. To help you save on costs, be sure to ask your provider for quotes on a regular print run as well as run-ons. It can help you see what can be more appropriate according to your budget.

3-Provide your print provider with a dummy or a mock-up of your collaterals. Your newsletter printing will benefit greatly if you yourself can create your own dummy. It can go a long way in providing your provider with the right specs for your print collaterals. Your mock-up can help you check your requirements, as well as allow you to see the actual order of your pages, images and even your copy in your print newsletters.

4-Proofread, proofread, and proofread! Always make sure that you check for errors before you have your provider do the final printing. If you can, ask someone to proofread for you. After reading and seeing your print newsletters several times, you might overlook some of the things that needed correcting and editing. Someone else’s eyes can look at your print collaterals and see the errors. If you can have several people to look at it and proofread, the better.

Lastly, be sure to check your paper stock before printing your design and copy onto it. The kind of material you present to your target clients will reflect the kind of image you would want your audience to have of you. When you ask for quotes, be sure to also ask for sample paper stocks to ensure that you have the right one for your collaterals. You won’t want to miss out on a good deal especially when you just have to add a little extra to get higher quality paper for your newsletter printing.
