If an exact figure were required, pertaining to the amount of people that suffer brain and head injuries, every year, in Britain, then it would be somewhere in the region of 120,000. There are many instances that cause a person to suffer a head or brain injury, including, work related injuries, road traffic accidents, criminal injury, and clinical negligence.

The head has a brain in it, which is by far the most complex thing that evolution (or God) has ever created. Therefore there are many types of injury that a person can suffer, with many symptoms. A victim can be fortunate and just get dizzy for a couple of weeks: a little bit nauseous perhaps. Some are not so fortunate, and a brain injury can leave a person paralysed for life.

If a person is the victim of a head or brain injury then there is a chance that they can claim remuneration for what has happened. In order for a claimant to be successful they must be able to prove that the injury was the result of another person. As long as this can be proved then there is a good chance of a person getting compensation. Claimants’ along with their families are often completely financially reliant upon compensation.

Of all the injuries that a person can suffer, a brain/head injury is one of the more profound. A victim therefore, can expect to receive a considerable amount of compensation. More compensation for instance, than a person that has tripped in a supermarket, and consequently injured their ankle in a sprain-like fashion. Remuneration generally is relative to injury severity.

When it comes to the actual amount of compensation that a victim receives, then several factors are taken into account. The actual injury that a person suffers, along with resultant physical and psychological pain, will be considered in evaluating remuneration. As well as this there is the loss of income and the cost of medical care, both, subsequent to the injury and subsequent to compensation being awarded. With so much at stake it is important that good legal representation is sourced. It is good to find a solicitor that is prepared to visit the injured person at home, as the injured person could well be incapacitated.
