Deciding on a theme for your company letterheads can be a troublesome task. You can’t just design a generic layout for company letterhead printing. You need to decide consciously on the various theme elements your letterheads should have. Although this may sound mundane, letterhead printing is still an art in itself and since it will carry your company’s image and credentials through different print mediums it is essential to do a great job in composing it.
So, when you compose a design for letterhead printing, there are a few theme elements that you should remember which will be the crucial aspects that will hold your letterhead design together. Keep all these aspects in mind, as they will be the key to creating a nice and effective letterhead for your company paperwork
1. Color schemes – The main element that you should decide on first is your letterhead color theme. Typically, a lot of people get this wrong, since they try to think of their own theme rather than adopting the existing theme of the company. As a good letterhead designer, you must know that you need to adapt to the design conventions of your company so that the company has a decent and coherent theme that people can identify it with. Your letterheads should follow this theme with no exceptions. All you have to do is to look at the dominant colors of your company logo, as well as other printed material like public relations kits, presentation folders, and even the business cards of the employees and bosses. All of these should give you the correct idea for the theme for your letterhead. Match your color design with that overall theme and you can never go wrong.
2. Font styles – Next, you should also figure out the correct font style for the text in your letterheads. Again, in most cases your company already has a few standard fonts that are used for formal company publications. Try to match your letterhead design with these font styles, so that you can maintain a coherent theme for your letterhead. To help you out with this, try to look at your corporate notepads, memorandums and even the company logo and name itself as inspiration.
3. Layout types – Now, besides the font styles, the letterhead layout is also something that you should worry about. In some word processing applications, there are actually several kinds of templates that you can choose from. You can have a full logo that spans the whole header, or you have can use a small logo, with supporting details such as contact numbers, website urls and other information. Some can have the company name at the center of the header, while sometimes it is on the sides. The choice is purely about your aesthetic tastes. So choose the type of letterhead layout that most connects with you.
4. Letterhead functions – Finally, in figuring out your letterhead’s theme elements, you should not forget about some functional letterhead elements. For example, some companies add in security barcodes and holograms to authenticate more important paper materials. You will have to integrate these features as you send the letterhead to the printer. By adding these functional elements, you can actually increase letterheads usefulness and it can become a powerful tool for efficiency at the office.
By remembering these four elements in letterhead printing, you should be able to figure out the best letterhead theme for your company. By integrating the prevailing company colors in your letterheads, you can be assured that they will mix well with other mediums such as public and employee relation documents. So think about your letterhead elements, do not just print generic ones.
