Loungewear is a fashion phenomenon, with loungewear items infiltrating entering every fashion conscious, yet comfort loving, woman’s wardrobe. Today loungewear has become an accessible must have for women of all generations.
The loungewear phenomenon has grown considerable since the start of the credit crunch means we are all more conscious of staying at home to save the pennies, yet don’t want to feel like we need to become unglamorous couch potatoes at the same time.
Despite loungewear being born from the philosophy that women should feel elegant and effortlessly stylish when behind closed doors, loungewear is actually great for many other occasions over and above the nights at home when you don’t plan on seeing anyone.
Great loungewear should not compromise style for comfort and can be worn any time of day and for any occasion. Camisoles, wrap cardigans and luxurious trousers are great for cosy nights in but also for off duty days, casual entertaining at home and travel whether it be country weekends, lounging around villas and hotels or a night of après ski. Loungewear is also the perfect partner for pre and post pregnancy figures.
Look at any well crafted loungewear wardrobe and you will find a collection of individual pieces which can be effortlessly mixed and matched to provide the perfect outfit. Must have loungewear items include camisole tops, long sleeve t-shirts, hoodies, roll top trousers, wrap tops and dresses.
Fabrics vary from label to label but predominantly feature sensuous silks, indulgent cashmeres and luxury jersey modal, a natural fabric referred to as the silk of cotton because of its exceptionally luxurious feel and drape-like quality.
Loungewear, to fit with its relaxed connotations, should be easy to wash, not be prone to fading or losing its shape. Colours of multiple shades are a must have to fit with all seasons from pretty pastels to luxurious rich summer tones.
The art of loungewear is to make dressing to relax easy and every woman should embrace it.
