Why one should test and tag?

To provide safety of workers at the work place electrical equipments should be regularly tested so as to remove the risk of injuries to the workers. One of the methods to ensure this is to keep safety kits as well as check that the equipments are in the best condition to be used and if not, the equipments that are damaged should be removed from the work place.

All the electrical appliances present at local, national and international level should be regularly checked and this can be done only with the help of local people. Some techniques that can be undertaken to test electrical equipments are as follows:

• The batteries of all appliances should be regularly checked so as to ensure no loss of electrical supply is there.
• To ensure no breakage of electrical cables is there.
• Providing proper electrical earthing in all sockets.
• Providing proper insulating materials as the base of all appliances so as to minimize the risk of electrical shocks.

Occupational health and safety (OHS) refers to the legislation, policies, procedures and activities that aim to protect the health, safety and welfare of all people at the workplace. Every worker has a right to healthy and safe work and to a work environment that enables them to live a socially and economically productive life.
