In Ayurveda it is said that there are diverse body types due to a range of dosha groupings. The three doshas are: Pitta, Kapha, and Vata. Each one is constituted of a collection of elements that are factors in bodily functions.

Pitta is largely made of fire and water, and is associated to the liver, pancreas, skin, and eyes. Kapha is a mixture of water and earth, and corresponds to the stomach, chest, lower back zones, mouth, throat, head, and joints. Vata, which is also called “wind”, is made of air and ether energies, and is related to the chest and pelvic regions, circulatory vessels, and naval area.

Dosha combinations are determined when we are conceived, hence in order for to have a well-balanced and peaceful life, a person needs to pay attention to, and follow his or her specific dosha class. Relating to how this can come into play in terms of weight management, it is emphasized that regardless of the dosha class, if the equilibrium is off, weight fluctuations can result.

As weight is unique for everyone, so are the tendencies to be either slimmer or more full-figured. This corresponds to the person's initial dosha. If the dominating dosha is Pitta, for instance, the person will be an average build. If the dosha is not balanced, it will result in weight increase as food is not refined adequately in the body's system.

Along the corresponding train of thought, individuals with the Vata dominant dosha are frequently thinner. This is because nutrients are not properly soaked up by their bodies. Sugary and fatty foods can make someone with a Vata dosha to gain weight, but these types of foods are unhealthy and can result in malady.

Lastly, people with a Kasha dosha are typically the people that may fall victim to obesity. Their dosha’s fundamental elements are water and earth, so when they are not balanced, their characteristics are often enhanced, leading to surplus weight gain.

To keep a healthy weight, individuals should ingeest foods in accordance with their dosha type. Alternating eating habits to harmonise with their doshas can result in achieving the desired weight changes.

Ayurveda spas and resorts are located all over the world. Anyone is welcome to visit and receive treatments, which are offered to assist in restoring their original doshas and thus correcting their weight.
