Being a travel nurse offers a host of benefits - free travel to exciting destinations, lodging, a chance to widen your horizons, and most of all - lucrative pay. Of course, travel nursing may not be your cup of tea if you like routine and are not really much of a traveler. Let us look at the rewards and challenges of travel nursing jobs.

Rewards
1.Free Accommodation
When you work with a travel nursing company, your accommodation needs will be taken care of at no additional charge to you. Most accommodations are near the work area, and are fully or partly furnished. What is more, you are provided a housing allowance should you decide to take your own accommodation or stay with friends.

2.Pay Packages
The pay is good, though some payment packages are better than others are. What you are paid depends on the location as well as the easy availability of other travel nurses. If you are brave enough to venture out in the freezing northern winters, then the pay package will warm you up soon enough! Not only the basic pay, but also perks and bonuses can add to your kitty.

Challenges
1.New problems
Some people keep to their job for years because the routine is a safety net. If you are not comfortable in new surroundings and have trouble getting along with people vastly different from you, maybe this is not the right job for you.
2.Travel Destinations
Many nurses specialize in travel nursing because they love traveling. However, if you are planning to go to a place that is high on the wish list of every travel nurse, you may have to compromise on the pay a little. However, taking up the same job in a place you (and presumably, other travel nurses) do not like can fetch you a great bargain monetarily.
3.Travel Readiness
You will always be at the call of the travel nursing company, and you must be ready to travel at a short notice. So if your family life is too involved, or you have other priorities, then travel nursing might not be the job for you.

Now that you know the pros and cons of being a travel nurse, you can think over your career options. If you have what it takes - welcome to a great career!
