Full color printing is nice and beautiful to look at. Of course it also entails a “nice” and “beautiful” printing bill as well. Beauty has its cost, and color printing is no exception. If you want a colorful published material you need to invest in some serious money for color printing.

However, what if we told you that there are ways to cut some cost and still achieve the quality that full color printing can offer. It is completely possible with the various options that printing companies offer nowadays. You can still enjoy your color prints even if you have a limited budget. Simply follow the tips below and you can achieve this.

Use color only on one side/part
The first thing you can do to cut the cost of your color printing is to print in full color, but on only one side of your printed material. This is applicable to postcards, posters, note cards, business cards etc. Any kind of printed medium that has emphasis on its “front” design can have a full color front, while you can cut cost by printing in gray scale or only on black at the back. This is a simple printing tactic that has the possibility of cutting your printed costs by a quarter or by almost one half. With only half your printed material printed in full color, the printing company should and will most likely give you a lower quote for color printing.

Other firms have used this concept in their booklet and catalog printing as well. They will use full color covers with all the beauty and advertising appeal they have, while they save money by just printing in black and white on the inside of the booklets and catalogs. This is another good way to save on printing costs, and still maintain a measure of quality in your published work.

Try designs that only have two or three colors
Besides printing on one side however, you can also alter your design to have only two or three colors. Using fewer colors in your color printing design can lower your cost in printing. Some printing companies charge a little less if you have only two or three main block colors on your printing design. If your design is simple enough this will be a great strategy for you to cut cost.

Consider printing Gray scale
Lastly, black, white and the shades of gray are colors too. If you are creative enough, you can have your design printed in gray scale and still have that effect of a full color published material. It is all in your chosen design. You can choose from a classic design that typically is in black and white, or you can go for high contrast and artistic images which are extremely elegant when printed in gray scale. Grays scale printing is of course cheaper than its color printing counter part, but it can still get great reactions as long as the published material is designed well.

Simple ideas right? They are simple but they will save you a lot of money in color printing. So don't be afraid of a limited budget. There are a lot of cheap color printing strategies that you can choose from. Good luck!
