The current No. 2 ranking team of the NCAA Division I, the Oklahoma Sooners had their 16th consecutive win by beating the Oklahoma State Cowgirls 93-75. The Sooners are now 20-2 overall and 8-0 in the Big 12 Conference games. Moreover, it has to be mentioned that their superstar Courtney Paris set historical records in the NCAA Division I in rebounds, field goals and points. Paris is now a senior and has been an extremely important player for the Sooners this past 4 years. Despite some people has criticized her weight, Courtney Paris has demonstrated everyone that she is a great athlete and an amazing basketball player on and off the court; she has currently a record of 112 double-doubles in her career with the Sooners.

During last Sunday’s game against OSU, Paris broke the record of 1,815 rebounds that was imposed by Wanda Ford in 1983-84 by currently enclosing a total of 1,823 rebounds. The 21-year-old player has also broke the record of 1,034 field goals and the career scoring record of 2,480 set by Sophia Young from 2003-2006. At the present, Paris has 2,481 points and 1,037 field goals.

At the beginning of the game OU was well set and aggressive, leading 23-6 with just 11 minutes left in the first half. OSU was shooting poorly for the first 10 minutes and Oklahoma took advantage of that. And even with the lack of rebounding of the Cowgirls and their weak defense, they managed to shorten the difference a bit, going to halftime 49-34. Oklahoma on the other hand, was shooting incredibly from the three point line and ended with an amazing 69% for the game.

During the second half, Oklahoma State came strong and tried to come back in the score cutting the lead of Oklahoma in the first 3 minutes of the half to 10 points. However, the Sooners responded violently offensively and took a 20-point lead again with only 10 minutes left of the game. After that, OSU could not recover and the Sooners continued playing consistently as a team and obtained the victory.

The best scorers of the OU were Danielle Robinson with 18 points and five assists, Courtney Paris with 17 points and 8 rebounds, Whitney Hand with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Nyeshia Stevenson with 11 points. For OSU the best scorers were Andrea Riley with 25 points and 6 assists, Tegan Cunningham with 20 points and finally Shaute’ Smith with 9 points.

Oklahoma’s coach Sherri Coale was really happy and astonished with her team performance and Courtney Paris’ achievements.

"I was really proud of the balance of our team today and Paris records. I thought we shared the basketball extraordinarily well… I thought we adhered to the game plan well. I thought we played together extremely well. We got great play off of our bench. Another road win in the Big 12, and we're proud of it," stated Coach Coale.
The next game of the Sooners will be against Iowa State on Wednesday, February 11th at home. We hope the best for Courtney Paris and the Sooners and we hope to keep watching their amazing basketball.
