So you've decide to purchase a new orangery? Congratulations! You've investment will bring you years of enjoyment and likely provide a 100% return on your investment if you ever choose to sell your home. Maximizing your enjoyment of your new structure will require more than just simply erecting the structure though. The accessories you add to the room will turn a functional, but boring, room into the perfect get-a-way you have always wanted.

Since orangeries are made up of numerous windows, choosing the right blinds or shades is probably the most important accessory decision you will make. Correctly chosen blinds will offer both functionality and beauty. They'll reduce the sun's glare on a hot day, or block the sun out entirely when desired. Reducing the amount of sun shining in will save on cooling costs, while the blinds will also help insulate the windows in the winter and keep heating costs down in the process. Some models can even block out outside noise, creating a disturbance free environment to relax the day away in.

When selecting the right blind or shade for you, there are a number of important characteristics you'll want to keep in mind. Not surprisingly, blinds are available is nearly every color imaginable, so picking one to match your decor shouldn't be an issue. Aluminum, vinyl, and wood models all offer different looks and feels that can totally change the appearance of your structure. One popular choice is to get a natural wood model that compliments the wood used to construct your orangery.

It is also important to keep in mind the size of blinds you'll need. Depending on the size and shape of your orangery, it may require custom made blinds, so be sure to budget accordingly when planning your new structure. Both vertical and horizontal style blinds are available, each offering a unique look and feel. Shades come in numerous styles as well, including circular, cordless, and Roman models.

In addition to the style of blinds or shades, you will also have to decide where to place your new blinds. If you want an external option, you'll probably end up with some sort of rolling shutters. These can be manually controlled by a crank shaft system or automatically through an electric control panel. If you decide to go with an interior option, you'll have a wider variety of options to pick from. Both rolling and free hanging options are commonly found indoors.

Whatever you choose, be sure to throughly investigate your options before making a final decision as changing your blinds or shades later can be an expensive hassle.
