As some of the elderly live alone, having a TV can be a way to feel in touch with the world, and can be cheering and informative. Research seems to show that older adults tend to watch more TV than younger adults. This is probably as they are often retired and therefore likely to have more time at home. Televisions can set a routine for all age groups, something that is often missing in hectic modern life. When watched sensibly, TVs can improve quality of life.
