TV Mounts for all ages

Televisions have now been in use by a large proportion of UK households for decades. Although TVs have changed a lot, as have viewing styles, they are still considered a status symbol by many. Having a huge flat screen on a wall TV mount can certainly impress like-minded visitors. Despite this, viewing habits are frequently debated. Actually watching a large amount of TV tends to be frowned upon, especially in the case of children.

Of course people do not purchase good quality TVs, TV mounts and accessories not to use them, and steps can be taken to make viewing more educational for all family members. For children, parents being present to explain content, and answer any questions a child may have, can help them learn a lot more from even basic programmes. Explaining advertisements are different from ordinary shows can benefit young children, as they often to not distinguish between the two naturally until they are older. There is nothing wrong with letting children know that the purpose of adverts is to encourage the purchase of the product in question. Making comparisons between activities and occurrences on TV and in real life can help make children relate better to a show – it can also be used to demonstrate that TV is not always realistic or true. Although this sounds like an obvious thing to point out, children do not always distinguish fact from fiction very easily until they have more life experiences.

Carefully chosen programmes can provide a large amount of information for the whole family. People get to see images of places and people and animals they may never get the chance to observe in reality. Having a floor TV mount can sometimes allow for young viewers to see screens easier, as they spend a lot of time near ground level. But parents and /or carers must make sure they are supervised and know not to interfere with the technology. If a child or teenager’s TV viewing time is monitored and kept to an appropriate limit, it is treated as a privilege and encourages respect for rules and boundaries. The art of using TV remote controls tends to be acquired at quite a young age. If wall TV mounts are used and a TV is high enough to be out of the child’s reach, parents can confiscate a remote in order to prevent additional viewing. Most children soon find some toys to play with instead!

The elderly can benefit from having a television. They tend to like to have TVs and TV mounts that they rely on rather than aiming for the latest, most fashionable piece of equipment. As some of the elderly live alone, having a TV can be a way to feel in touch with the world, and can be cheering and informative. Research seems to show that older adults tend to watch more TV than younger adults. This is probably as they are often retired and therefore likely to have more time at home. Televisions can set a routine for all age groups, something that is often missing in hectic modern life. When watched sensibly, TVs can improve quality of life.
