The ever-increasing Global Warming is one of the seriously addressed global topics of the day. It has been creating much menace in reference to the global development and growth sectors. If seen statistically, almost 50% of the CO2 emission comes from Industrial Power Stations and Households, with Cars also contributing a small proportion. Various campaigns addressing the minimal CO2 release issue are since brought into, with cars manufacturers doing their best to bring theories into practice. Volkswagen is one car manufacturer company that has probably left no stones unturned for making such campaigns a success.

Style and quality are without doubt the USPs of Volkswagen; but another reason for its rising popularity is the eco friendly factor it addresses. It is no surprise that Volkswagen has managed to gain a world wide fan following (UK specially has the larger number of Volkswagen Beetles, Bugs, Golfs and Foxs), but that has not been at the cost of neglecting its corporate social duties.

In 2002, Volkswagen introduced a bivalent natural gas vehicle that could run on both Petrol and Gas. In 2005 again, VW took an encouraging step by presenting two vehicles with the EcoFuel Engine that runs on Natural Gas. The concept behind the EcoFuel engine was that the vehicle would run primarily on Natural Gas mode, with the Petrol tank only serving as a back up. This invention somewhat cooled off the long heated debate relating the CO2 emission and the car industry.

The recent relaunch of the VW Passet with the Bluemotion2 model again proved Volkswagen’s commitment towards a greener environment. The Bluemotion 2 VW promised less CO2 emission and has improved fuel economy. Where the Bluemotion1 emitted 136g/km with a 1.9 litre diesel engine, the revised model emitted 128 g/km with a 2 litre engine. The improved fuel economy also means that you can save more on fuel.

Volkswagen is not the only car that has participated in reducing the CO2 emission. Tata Nano and others are also in the list but the VW achievements in the same have been unparalleled. Volkswagen has another fuel efficient model “A Triple O”, in the pipeline that has a complete eco friendly approach. So there’s much more to expect from VW.
