Have the filmmakers taken the statement about the ‘economy going to the dogs’, too seriously? Two of the major flicks released this holiday season have to do with dogs. The first, Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston star in ‘Marley and Me’, which has set the box office on fire. The movie is about how Marley the dog teaches the Grogan family some of life’s important lessons. The pooch drama is driving many to tears and families are flocking to the movie theatres, which explain the box office collection of about $50 million over the Christmas weekend.

The other drama ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is related to dogs only in title. The movie is about a young boy from the slums of Mumbai, India (where the recent terror attacks took place) who is about to face the last question for millions in the TV Game Show ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’. The movie has been winning rave reviews and is making the rounds at various film festivals and recently won four Golden Globe Awards.

The best way to decide which movie to watch would be to have a look at the movie trailers. There are a lot of high resolution videos and trailers of the holiday special releases on the internet. It’s wise to have a look at the movie previews before making plans for the weekend movie sessions.
