Interior design plays a significant role in every person’s life. This is because every person is influenced by his or her surroundings. Human beings have always been known to take care of their living spaces, right from the Stone Age Man through to the modern man in the age of Information Technology. Earlier interior design was based more on physical and aesthetical preferences. But now designing interiors has become an altogether more complex task as a wide number of factors are taken into consideration while designing interiors for any space. This is why this activity is now overseen by experts. The result of this is that the commercial value of interior design has increased greatly.
Modern human beings have a much better awareness of how their living and work spaces can affect their lives. If the interiors of your home are not properly designed then you may never feel comfortable and relaxed. Same goes for offices. Imagine a work place that is cramped, ill-ventilated and dirty. How can people working in such a place be productive or stay productive for a reasonable amount of time, so bad interior design can result in substantial financial losses as well.
All this makes commercial interior design an important field. Commercial interior design experts strive to make the work place more comfortable and inviting for the workers. This includes ensuring the following things -
• The workplace should be clean and quiet.
• It should be airy and bright. If provision for natural light is not available then there should be adequate number of high quality artificial lights. Very bright light can also affect productivity. It should be ensured that the workplace is adequately lit. Windows should have curtains or blinds to block bright sunlight.
• There should be ample space for every worker. The workplace should not feel congested.
• The work station should be ergonomically designed. Every employee should preferably have a separate workstation.
• Computers and other office machinery and electrical gadgets should be safely wired.
• Every office should have provisions for the safety of its employees in cases of untoward incidents like fires. Emergency doors should be within easy reach, there should be adequate number of fire extinguishers.
• The restrooms are another essential feature of every office, they should be kept clean and all the required supplies like toilet paper, soap etc. should always be available.
