Wrinkled and leather-like skin are signs of sun damaged skin, fine lines around the mouth are also signs of skin aging due to smoking. One of the many remedies of damaged skin is turning into a healthy diet. This is a natural way of keeping a healthy skin.

For the most part, to have great skin your diet needs to be based around lots of fresh fruits/veggies, healthy fats, proteins, with minimal processed foods, and include lots of water for proper skin hydration.

Diet is a major factor in providing you with healthy skin. The right intake of food with all the essential components is most vital for you in possessing glowing skin. This is a natural way of protecting the skin. Most of the skin care products that are available in the market contain a heavy usage of chemicals. The use if such chemicals on your body ensure that your skin conditions deteriorate.

A poor diet can leave the skin looking dull and undernourished. Many people follow low carbohydrate diets which can rob the body of anti oxidant rich produce. Antioxidants help to fight free radicals which cause premature ageing. Also, if you do not drink enough water, your body can become dry and hence the skin may develop a condition such as Eczema or even Psoriasis. So what should you be doing to keep your skin healthy?

Healthy skin requires mainly Vitamin A. Vitamin A is used in many acne treatment oils. Vitamin A supplements help avoid acne and skin cancer. But overdoing on this supplement may lead to liver problems. Scientific studies have proven that people who follow a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts, yogurt, eggs, vegetable oils, whole grains, tea, and water experience less photo-aging and wrinkled skin compared to those who munch through foods like red meat, whole milk, butter, sugary products and potatoes.

Forget about all the hype around reducing the amount of carbohydrates in your diet. Yes, too much of good thing can be bad in any situation, but our bodies – including our skin – need carbs to stay healthy. Keep this excellent diet tip for healthy skin in mind: A lack of carbohydrates in your body will result in a decreased amount of antioxidants which play a huge role in fighting the negative effects of free radicals. A diet that includes whole-grain carbohydrates such as wheat bread, pasta and rice will help to prevent the pre-mature aging that occurs when there is a lack of this nutrient in your system.

Antioxidants protect the cells from free radicals. A diet rich in antioxidants is great protection from the damage done by these free radicals. Lycopene, found in red fruits and vegetables is a powerful antioxidant, as are flavonoids and carotenoids. You can find these in herbs and vegetables such as spinach, asparagus, peaches, apricots, cabbage, onion, dill, garlic, lima beans, basil and others. And don’t forget the tea. Lightly cooked, fresh or raw is a great way to benefit from anti-oxidants.
