Jeffrey Marshall had moved to Fresno, CA from Ohio. He became known in his new hometown as a pleasant conversationalist and a friendly neighbor. He could be seen every morning walking his pride and joy - a pair of pampered golden retrievers. Women loved his jovial manner and many bonded with him over mutual love of animals. He also impressed them with his technological savvy, always well-informed about the latest computer and telecommunications trinkets and their clever use. Unfortunately, his health has not been good of late; it is rumored that he's been seeing a prostate cancer specialist.

Jeffrey Marshall has also been featured on America's Most Wanted for the murder of his girlfriend Lynne Waterson. Turns out, as women get to know him, their initial pleasant impressions are quickly dispelled. He met Lynne, who also moved to Fresno from Ohio, at a local bar. Following just a handful of dates, Marshall became clingy and controlling. Within less than a month, he proposed. For Lynne, who was already determined to distance herself from him, it was the last straw, and she broke up with Marshall. That's when he went berserk.

Jeffrey Marshall has honed his knowledge of technology tools for the purpose of stalking his female victims. His expert use of phone tracking software informed him of Lynne's whereabouts and interactions around the clock. He threatened her life on numerous occasions. According to the police, this was not the first time Marshall employed these 'relationship' tactics: he had resorted to stalking, bondage, rape and torture with a previous girlfriend who tried to get away.

This time, Marshall went further - in April of 2007, he painstakingly and methodically planned Lynne's shooting & his own subsequent disappearance. He made only cash purchases to cover his tracks, and left a final good-bye message on her phone saying goodbye and sharing his plans to seek advanced cancer treatment outside the country. The police saw this trick for what it was - an attempt to dissociate himself from his next step. He broke into Lynne's apartment to await her return from vacation. When she did, he confronted and attacked her, pulling the trigger and killing her on the spot. Afterwards, Jeffrey Marshall disappeared.
