A large number of people across the world die every year due to heart diseases. Some of the main causes of heart diseases are excessive cholesterol, high blood pressure, increased blood sugar level, smoking, lack of physical activity, and increased body weight. Amongst all these risk factors, cholesterol effects on your heart's health are the most severe. If there is more cholesterol in the body, it leads to building up of fatty acids. This in turn reduces the blood flow to the arteries and causes heart problems.
If you want to reduce harmful cholesterol effects, you must follow healthy eating habits. Most of us eat food rich in saturated fats like full-fat milk, cheese, butter, meat, eggs, offals, biscuits, cakes, potato crisps and lot more. Saturated fats are not good for your heart as they increase blood cholesterol and the risk of heart diseases. Therefore, you must try to substitute saturated fatty acids with polyunsaturated fatty acids. Unsaturated fats are found in unsaturated vegetable oils like sunflower, olive and canola and margarine spreads. You can use them in your salads or for frying.
You can effectively control adverse cholesterol effects to your heart by consuming a variety of foods such as lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, pasta, rice, noodles, lot of vegetables and salads. You should also consume skim or low fat dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese and not full fat dairy products. If you are fond of pastas and pizzas, you can enjoy them too. But, use low fat products. These days, you can find low cholesterol products in the form of spreads and oils that help to reduce adverse cholesterol effects to a great extent. Such products contain plant sterols, an ingredient that actively reduces cholesterol from the bloodstream and throws out the unabsorbed cholesterol from the body.
Apart from following healthy eating, try to follow an active and healthy lifestyle to reduce cholesterol effects. Doing exercise regularly will help you lower your cholesterol, keep blood pressure under control and also reduce your body weight. Try and live a stress free life as stress is also found to be one of the causes of heart diseases. It leads to high blood pressure and thereby affects the heart. Also, quit smoking and drinking too much alcohol to ensure a healthy heart.
If you love your heart, follow these simple steps to reduce cholesterol effects.
