It was only a few years ago that the medical and health field only had x-rays as a means of detecting a broken bones or diseases. However, the past few years, the technology in this field has grown by leaps and bounds. No longer to doctors need to study bulky film. Instead, they can scrutinize state of the art images from medical image methods such as ultrasound, CT scans, radiology PACS and RIS systems.

When doctors use radiation methods such RIS PACS for imaging, it is referred to as the science of radiology. However, the more common names are either radioscopy or clinical radiology. When the science of radiology is used for medical purpose, it is called clinical radiology.

Radiology is commonly implemented when treating and diagnosing various types of injuries such as broken bones or diseases such as infection. Through the use of radiology, a radiologist can x-ray, Radiology PACS, or use magnetic assisted resonance imaging as a way to take photographs of the inside of your body such as bones, organs or the soft tissues parts of your body.

Trained specialists in this field are called a radiologist. They possess knowledge and understanding of how to properly read an image or a web based PACS. This is how doctors can accurately diagnose how severe an injury is. Some PACS systems can even spot tumors that may be in your body. Usually only digital medical imaging reports can confirm certain types of injuries or diseases.

Radiologists read the RIS PACS report and then discuss their findings with a doctor the method of treatment best suited for the problem. Thanks to web based PACS the radiologist can even speak to more than one doctor at a time. Digital radiology is so important that most medical clinics now have their own radiology lab equipped with PACS systems and RIS systems so they don’t have to depend on others for getting such important information.

Don’t think radiology PACS or medical imaging is an easy job. Suppose there is a very ill patient, or one who is hurt badly and in severe pain. It is up to them to properly get a RIS PACS scan so treatment can start as quickly as possible. A radiologist must be very patient and know how to tackle difficult situations and problems. They must also possess the ability to properly explain to the patient the procedure of radiology PACS and what is expected of the patient. This is in addition to studying all those medical history records carefully.

Since a doctor’s entire treatment of a patient is based on the radiology report, you can appreciate the importance and responsibility of the medical imaging department. If they are not careful enough, there may be problems in the report which can lead to the wrong diagnosis and wrong medication.
