You have purchased a home or rented a business space and it came with an alarm system. Now the question you should be asking yourself, is this system going to provide real security or a false sense of security that is going to bite you in the butt some night further down the road?

A Security System for the Alarm System

The fact, is that any alarm system is a good thing however, what many people don't know is that there is a huge difference between todays and yesterdays alarm systems. The fact, is that todays alarm systems contain two separate systems, with one being the main alarm system and the other being a separate system to protect the alarm system itself.

Simple to Deactivate

For instance, did you know that many alarm systems can be deactivated by simply cutting the phone line? These are older systems that were installed before affordable cellular phone technology was available. Also an alarm system without a reserve battery component can be deactivated by simply turning off the electricity.

More to Think About

Newer alarm systems also have remote access capabilities. With remote access capability you can access and check on your system, home or business with a simple phone call to the system. Also, all alarm systems aren't connected to a security service that provides immediate response services. If you are expecting your neighbors to come running for you if it goes off, you may be sadly mistaken.

Affordable Upgrades Make Good Sense

Your best bet is to have a security specialist have a look at your system and see what upgrades it may need, because as this new technology has advanced, it has also become far more affordable as well. Besides what is cheaper a $300 upgrade to your system, or a break-in and robbery?
