The word “food” can have infinite connotations. It could refer to a bucket of popcorn, packets of chips, a platter of fruit salad or a bowl of rice all at the same time. Because food is available in uncountable varieties, it is easy to satisfy your hunger with any of them. Your lunch could be a steak or a pizza. However, not all the food stuffs that spring in your mind when you hear the word are not good for you. For a sound body, only healthy foods should be eaten everyday.

Healthy foods are nothing expensive. They are just simple food items which are included in our everyday diet. Some of them are listed as below:
• Vegetables- both green and yellow,
• Fruits- citrus fruits, apples, water melon, pineapples and red/black grapes
• Low fat dairy products- low fat cheese, yoghurt and raw milk
• Soybean oil and olive oil
• Whole grains
• Carrots
• Beans and legumes
• Seafood and fish
• Garlic and ginger
• Nuts and seeds
• Poultry and other lean meats
• Water.
As you can see, healthy foods are nothing exotic or pricey; in fact, the junk foods which people consume everyday are costlier than these nutritious options.

Eating food healthy depends not only on the kind of foods but also the way they are cooked. It does not help if you have bought fresh vegetables and are now deep-frying them. Vegetables and fruits are most nutritious when they are raw. They can be taken as salads. If you do have to cook them, opt for steamed and boiled options without wasting the gravy. Meat should also be taken the same way and not fried or heated for long. Don’t worry about the bland taste; garlic, ginger and spices will take care of the flavor and aroma. Pepper, rosemary, oregano, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, cardamom and thyme are some of the most popular spices available in the market.

Now you know that it does not take a rocket scientist to compose his daily diet with healthy foods. While buying your favorite items, choose fresh products. Also opt for organic products as far as possible as they do not contain pesticides, fungicides or genetically modified organisms. You can also shop for these foods online.
