Slatwall is a versatile marketing tool for many retail stores. Once installed, you can change up the spacing of your hanging racks, hooks and shelves in a snap. Learn how slatwall could improve your retail store merchandising with these easy steps.
-First, determine how much weight your slatwall will need to hold. Aluminum inserts in the slots can make your slatwall capable of holding a lot more weight. This is an inexpensive solution to upgrade the slatwall in your retail store. When purchasing your slatwall, try not to skimp on quality. A good quality slatwall system designed to hold a lot of weight will be sure to extend your store's use of it for many years. Consider it a one-time investment and go for the best quality you can find.
-Second, you will need to inventory your store to determine how many and what types of accessories you will need. Heavy coats may need sturdier bars. Bars that extend out perpendicular from the wall save space and more effectively showcase certain merchandise, such as shirts and bathing suits. Perpendicular bars also make your items visible to people passing by your store and could draw in more customers.
-Aim high. Hanging items high in your store not only saves a lot of floor space, but it also has some other benefits as well. If you are in a mall setting, people far away from your store can still see what you have to offer through your front window. Try placing brightly colored items or new merchandise in the highest position closest to the front of your store. Aiming high also cuts down on theft. If your customers have to ask an associate to get the items down for them to try on, then they have made contact with an employee, and the employee can take note of the items that they are bringing into the dressing room. This could help your employees keep track and deter shoplifters from even attempting to take an item from your store.
-Take advantage of small hooks. Displaying your accessories near outfits that they go well with will help you to sell these items. Thin plastic torso mannequins, or crystalline mannequins, are a great inexpensive idea for getting your accessories to pop out in the barrage of clothing. Place the accessory hooks near the mannequin and you are bound to sell more of them along with the clothing.
Slatwall saves so much room in your store that you will be able to expand your merchandise selection without sacrificing any space. All of these tips can be easily utilized to help you get the most space and sales out of your slatwall investment.
