Seminoles -PK vs. Hurricanes

Two inconsistent former powerhouses from the Sunshine State meet up in Dolphins Stadium this Saturday afternoon as Florida State travels to Miami in this ACC grudge match. Years ago this matchup of Florida State (3-1, 0-1) and Miami (2-2, 0-1) would have been a marquee game, not just for the state of Florida but a primetime "game of the week" type contest. Both teams have seen their fortunes diminish in recent years while in-state rival Florida has dominated headlines, notoriety and in-state recruiting. Many experts feel the teams are growing, however, and will be dominant again in the future.

As bright as the future is for each team, they know they must live and play in the present. The Seminoles head into South Beach riding high after claiming a surprisingly easy victory, 39-21, over Colorado last Saturday in Jacksonville. The 'Noles offense came to play last week after seemingly taking the game off the week before in a 12-3 loss to Wake Forest in Tallahassee.

Meanwhile the 'Canes have alternated wins and losses since the start of 2008 and they hope this pattern continues as they were upset in their last outing against North Carolina last week. While hanging tough against Florida for most of the game before the Gators pulled away, Miami still has a little bit of swagger in its bag of tricks.
Expect a hard knocking, low scoring game in a battle of two of the toughest defenses in the nation. Both teams seem to mirror each other as their offenses have been hit or miss and have been baled out in many cases by their stingy defense. FSU's quarterback Christian Ponder and Miami's signal caller, Robert Marve, have not been terrible, but not overly effective as they rank in the middle of ACC pack in passer rating.
Regardless of the circumstances, players and ability on the field, when Florida State and Miami get together, everyone is in for quite a ride.
