Healthy, beautiful skin is something many people strive for. We're all born with gorgeous skin, but as we age it becomes necessary to put forth a little effort to maintain a glowing complexion. Starting off with a correct skin care routine can be a pain considering all of the product options, home remedies and medical procedures. Depending on your situation, any number of approaches might be a good choice (each of which worthy of its own article at the very least). The information here is aimed at those who are just getting started with a daily skin care regimen and will focus on the three key ingredients which any skin care regimen should be built. These are skin cleanser, skin toner and moisturizers.
Skin Cleansers
Skin care products are available for every skin type you can think of and it's easy to get lost in this "one step fix" or that "scientific breakthrough". One thing that will remain consistent regardless of your unique circumstances is that an excellent cleanser is a must. These cleansers are your initial step in treating the skin and preparing it for the next steps in your routine. Keep in mind that not all skin cleansers are going to work as well, especially when you consider skin type. A heavy cream cleanser is not going to be good to use if you have a skin type that is oily. A clay based cleanser may dry your skin out more since they can remove the skin's oil and hydration. A good skin cleanser will cleanse the skin without doing more damage.
Using Skin Toner
Skin toners are also sometimes referred to as astringents. The point of using skin toner is to wash the skin more aggressively and helping to remove dead cells, makeup and debris that wasn't removed by your cleanser. Having an excellent toner in your skin care collection can help you avoid breakouts and open up the skin so that it is better prepared to utilize moisturizer. An important point to make however is that these products can be a bit more irritating on the skin than a cleanser. They also have the potential to make the skin dry and to irritate those who have sensitive skin. Choosing a skin care product that does not contain alcohol here is especially important, especially for dry skin treatment or skin that is overly sensitive.
Using Moisturizers
The third important part of any skin careprogram is an effective moisturizer. Top shelf skin moisturizers contain emollients, antioxidants, nutrients and oils. Similar to skin cleansers and skin toner, moisturizer should take into account your individual skin type. Moisturizers are usually labeled by weight with the lightweight products containing less oil and compounds that can feel "heavy" on the skin. As mentioned above a heavy moisturizer, which is very effective for those with a dry skin type, is probably not wise to use on an oily skin type since this may simply make matters worse.
And there you have it, the three must have products for any good skin care regimen approach. Considering the age of your skin and whether or not you are suffering from certain skin conditions, other approaches may be necessary. If this is the case, be sure to consult a dermatologist before beginning with any skin care products.
