How we poison our skin and the symptoms of such poisoning
We use so many artificial fragrances, dyes and chemicals in order to send the "right" cultural messages that we can put undue burden on our skin and cause unpleasant problems. While it's important to our self-esteem and social functioning to smell appropriate, many of the modern products we use to do it are not of the natural world. We use fragrance substitutes because they're both cheaper and more available, but that doesn't mean they're always the best option.Antiperspirants, by their very nature, cause sweat pores to quit working. While we may like this effect in the short term, such as when on a date, it's important to remember that the human body never does anything without a reason.
Interfering with the body's natural functions, even sweating, is not something that should be done causually. Sweat cools the body and serves to elimiate toxins carried to the skin by the blood. The sweat we usually use antiperspirants for, namely the armpits, used to serve as a scent marker for our kind.
This function is why underarm sweat is so pungent. While wanting to avoid the musk smell is understandable, realize that this is a product of our culture and not the way our bodies were meant to work.
In addition, while we may find the colors and scents of artificial dyes and perfumes pleasing, they are not natural, organic components of the world we evolved for. Overuse of these can also clog skin pores and sweat glands, leading to the same unfortunate outcomes.
Symptoms of skin toxificiations include acne, rashes, hives, excessive sweating as the skin tries to compensate, nausea, fatigue, and general malaise.
Simple Skin Detoxing
If you should suffer from any of these symptoms you'll need to implement a skin detoxification program to correct the problem. You'll need to use a skin detoxification program in order to restore your skin's natural balance.
You'll need the purest, gentlest soap you can find with no dyes or perfumes. Soaps labeled "hypoallergenic" are usually good, but check the ingredients list anyway.
You'll also need a mild dermabrasion tool like a loofah sponge - derived from the loofah vine fruit. Another natural version of loofahs are a sea sponge that's been caught and dried.
You also must eliminate all antiperspirants, dyes and artificial perfumes from your skin care regimen without fail.
Once the detoxification process is complete, you might be able to go back to some of them, but don't count on it. Once you start having reactions, you've usually become sensitized to the substance in question and can't use it in the future without problems.
You may also find that you enjoy your new skin care regimen so much you don't want to give it up! Once you know you're sensitive to dyes, perfumes and so on, it's relatively easy to substitute natural alternatives to your old products.
By exercising a bit of care, you enjoy a lifetime of problem-free skin.
