Pain, fatigue and tiredness are common problems that all of us face in our daily life. Due to the side-effects of allopathic medicines, people are looking for the alternative ways to get relief from pain and tiredness. Aromatherapy is one of the most popular natural therapies used all over the world in treating number of ailments. This article will focus on how aromatherapy can be helpful in getting relief from body pain, headache, muscle tension and excessive tiredness.

1. Pain/muscle tension – The best way to treat pain and tension is with massage. Get your partner to work on your back, neck and shoulders with one of the below oils in carrier oil or try a little self massage. For maximum benefits use in the bath then follows with an aromatherapy massage.

These oils can help you:

• Eucalyptus
• Juniper
• Black pepper
• Lavender
• Rosemary

2. Headache/migraine – Add 12 drops of any of the below oils to 4 fl oz (100 ml) of carrier oil and massage it into your temples, neck and up into the base of your skull and scalp. If you do this early enough you can prevent the onset of a full-clown headache.

Or steam inhale using twenty drops of oil in 2 pints (1.1 liter) of hot water. If you have nausea with your headache, peppermint is really helpful.

• Lavender
• Peppermint
• Camomile
• Rosemary

3. General aches and pains – Use 10 drops of any of the below oils in your bathwater and soak in it. Or ask your partner to massage the affected area or try a little self massage.

These oils can help you:

• Eucalyptus
• Black pepper
• Rosemary
• Camomile

4. Fatigue/excessive tiredness – Use 10 drops of any of the below oils in your bath and soak in it for 5-10 minutes. Or use 5 drops in a footbath if you are in a hurry.

Or add six drops to 2 fl oz (50 ml) of carrier oil. Rub it briskly into your solar plexus to uplift and boost energy levels.

• Lavender
• Neroli
• Juniper
• Rosemary
• Geranium
