If IT consultation has become a highly profiting business prospect, the same counts for several benefits for a company whose core competency is not IT. With IT consultancy services being readily available now, one can expect of initiating a business or upgrading one existing with right guidance.

An IT consultancy service starts with client’s interest in a service provider. Either selected via a bidding process or though personal contacts – the service provider prepares a list of viable solutions that answer clients needs. For consultants, the initial meeting gives an opportunity to identify clients needs, itemise opportunities and qualify to become the favourite choice. Clients would try to understand the viability of the solutions and consultant’s ability to meet up to the expectations.

The episode after the first phase of interaction holds crucial for the consultants. After investing in preparing the design and flow of the process, the consultant seeks for deserved green signal from the client. For the IT consulting company, signature of acceptance to the terms of services lets the client to embark its journey towards completion of the process. The signature brings the service provision and payments agreements under legal compliance – all in the interest of better transparency and process deliverance.

However, on several occasions, dithery clients often lead to farther delay in signing or making a commitment on the process terms. Consultants should be very careful of confused clients as their indecision can lead to waste of time and effort. A minimum period hence has to be set prior to planning a deliverable.

In addition, there is a normal tendency of clients to seek for more. They might ask for more clearance, more detail and eventually more possibilities. Too much of detail can eventually lead to a loss for an IT consultant as because after knowing probabilities some clients might not feel the importance of you. So, never giveaway too much of details in the first phase – and most importantly never for free.
