Good marketing costs money.
An obvious statement, but one a lot of companies still need to come to terms with. There are methods for getting free advertising, such as when you’re talked about by a radio station or television program, but really, how often does that happen? When was the last time you had a local station devote time to talking about your businesses?
Free publicity is always great when it comes along, but if you’re basing your entire marketing off of that you’re in for a rude awakening.
What makes things worse is the fact that a strong marketing campaign is going to be as continuous as possible. The longer your breaks are between marketing pushes the more business you’re likely to lose. This means the most effective kind of marketing will be one that never really lets up.
How are you supposed to gather up the money for something like that?
If done right, the best way to get constant marketing is postcard printing.
Unlike other forms of advertising like brochures or catalogs, postcard printing is considerably cheaper and easier to create. And, unlike the cheaper forms of advertising such as flyers or posters, postcard marketing allows you to send your advertisement directly a to person, which gives you a greater impact.
Now to get postcard mailing to really work you’re going to need to know who you’re trying to target. This is going to be a lot more focused than any other form of marketing because you’re literally sending your advertisement right to them. All you have to do with a poster is create an image that will attract the right people. With postcards you have to know who the right people are by name and address.
Gather up a proper list to get your postcard mailing going. This is going to be one of the most important aspects of your marketing efforts. If you aren’t sending stuff to the right people you aren’t going to have any worthwhile success.
Once you do know who you’re trying to target, decide on your message. What goal is your postcard marketing trying to accomplish? Is it merely to get more people in and shopping, or do you have a specific product you’re looking to push more than the others?
All of this is going to be the more important and the most time consuming part of your marketing. However, once you’re finished you’ve just set up a system you can keep using for long afterwards.
And, because of the cheaper costs of postcard printing, you can keep sending out postcards for long after your initial push. Get into a habit of regularly having a new order printed up every month or so to keep getting your name in people’s homes. Each time you have a new deal or new product send out another wave of postcards.
It may be a lot of work initially, but in the end you’ll come away with a cost effective form of marketing you can use to keep your name in every customer’s home.
