Suffering an injury can be a stressful time in your life no matter what the circumstances are. If you have suffered an injury which was caused through no fault of your own, you may be entitled to compensation. When making a personal injury claim, there are always many things which you have to consider. One of the more common personal injury claims comes as a result of a road accident. When people are unfortunate enough to be involved in a road accident, there are usually many questions which they would like to ask. Here are the questions and answers to those which are frequently asked.
If you are in a car accident, the first thing that you are legally obligated to do is to report the accident to the DMV. Once you have done that you will need to consider if you would like to claim compensation. If you are going to look to pursue compensation, then you will need to be able to present compelling evidence of your injuries. One of the best ways to do this is to take photographic evidence of your suffering. If you can take photos quickly after the accident has taken place it will help your claim. Continuing to do this throughout the stages of your recuperation is also advisable, as it will create a diary of your injuries.
Photographic evidence is always useful when you are claiming compensation due to a personal injury. However it is also strongly recommended that you record the dates and times of any pain and or discomfort that you are also suffering from. This will play a vital role in gaining you the money that you feel you are entitled to. If you are not suffering from any pain immediately after the accident, you will still need to go to the hospital. If your not in any pain, it’s more than likely because your body has produced adrenaline to act as a natural pain killer – you may be more hurt than you realised!
Once you have completed your diary, noting every incident in regard to pain suffered, doctors visits and anything related to it, such as visits to a physiotherapist of even local gym, you will be able to make a personal injury claim. You are generally not able to make a claim until you have recovered (depending on the severity of the injuries) due to the costs of treatments being factored into the settlement figure. Your personal injury claim will usually take a few months to be resolved.
