If you are suffering from acne there are certain steps that you need to take in order to reduce the outbreaks of acne on your skin and to reduce the chance of your acne from appearing again in the future.

You also need to be taking care of your skin in such a manner that you are not running the risk of developing acne scars in the possible near future, as these alone can cause just as much heartache as acne itself.

There are certain foods that you should make every effort to avoid, and one of those foods is sugar, sweet foods, foods that are processed and hydrogenated fats such as cakes, pastries, ice creams and pies.

If you do feel like having something sweet, then you should use a sweetener as opposed to sugar in your diet. This should be taken in moderation, but if you are serious about getting rid of your acne, then not having something sweet, in order to feel more attractive about yourself is a very small price to pay.

You should also reduce your intake of carbonated beverages as these are also a high source of sugar. You can obtain sugar free drinks, these are better, but you should try to avoid such drinks altogether. The best drinks are those of freshly squeezed juices and water. You are best of making fresh juice yourself, as you will not need to add any preservatives compared to what is in the shops.

Also try to avoid foods such as white bread and potatoes as these have a tendency to raise the levels of blood sugar. Such foods are considered to be a high glycemic foods. Research has shown that those on a low glycemic diet have considerably less acne than those on a normal diet. One reason for this is the reduction in the levels of insulin, and if the levels of insulin is high this can cause the pores of the skin to become blocked therefore resulting in an outbreak of acne.

You may also want to reduce the intake of dairy products such as milk and cheese. These products do have a high hormonal content within them, as they are produced by cows, and more so if the cow is bearing a calf at the time of milking. Such hormones can then be passed within the human body, causing an activity of hormonal change and therefore causing acne to occur.

If you want to have milk or other dairy products then you need to opt for products that are very low in fat or even consider alternatives such as soy milk. You can get soy milk that is not very sweet. You can get very low fat cheeses such as Edam and having these will less likely to have high levels of iodine which can cause build-ups of excess toxins in the body.

By taking care of what you eat can help a great deal and this is something that just requires time and patience. The biggest advantage is that you are in control and your health is only bound to improve for the better.
