Adult onset diabetes results from the inability of these cells in the body to respond to insulin. This is the all most common type of diabetes. It is also called Type II diabetes and It usually occurs in people over 40 years old who are overweight. It often runs in families.
Symptoms of Adult Diabetes
The symptoms of adult diabetes are symptoms that should be early recognized. Recognizing a symptom or sign for diabetes is important because diabetes is actual condition that can be life-threatening. Diabetes is a disease where high levels of sugar in the blood exist and then creating a symptom or sign for diabetes. Diabetes can be nearly caused by too little insulin in the body, by the inability to use insulin or both of these. Insulin is a hormone that produced by the pancreas to regulate blood sugar levels. About 17 million persons in the USA those suffer from symptoms of adult diabetes.
When people with type 2 diabetes take medications to reduce the blood sugar, sugar levels may drop below the normal range and cause the low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Symptoms of hypoglycemia include sweating, trembling, dizziness, hunger and the confusion. Hypoglycemia that you do not recognize and correct can basically lead to seizures and loss of consciousness. You can correct hypoglycemia that by eating or drinking something with carbohydrates, which raises your blood sugar level.
What doesn’t cause diabetes?
It’s very important to be aware of myths about the causes of diabetes. Eating too much sugar does not cause the diabetes. However, it may cause obesity and this is overall associated with people developing type 2 diabetes.
Pathophysiology
Insulin resistance means that body cells those do not respond appropriately when insulin is present. Unlike insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (Type 1), the insulin resistance is generally “post-receptor”, meaning it is a problem in deep with the cells that respond to insulin rather than a problem with insulin production.
Diabetes Treatment
Diet: A healthy diet is important key to controlling blood sugar levels and preventing diabetes complications.
If the patient is obese and has had difficulty to losing weight on their own, talk to a healthcare provider. He or she can recommend a dietitian or a weight modification program to help to the patient reach a goal.
Causes
Type 2 diabetes is in fact caused by a complicated interplay of genes, environment, insulin abnormalities, increased glucose production present in the liver, increased fat breakdown, and possibly malfunctioning hormonal secretions in the intestine. The recent dramatic increase indicates that those lifestyle factors (obesity and sedentary lifestyle) may be particularly important in triggering the genetic elements that cause this type of diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes typically begins gradually and progresses slowly. Symptoms in adults include:
• Blurred vision
• Weight loss Problem
• In women, vaginal yeast infections or fungal infections under the breasts or in the groin
• Severe gum problems
• Itching
• Excessive thirst Sign
• Increased urination
• weakness
• Erectile dysfunction in men
• Unusual sensations, such as tingling or burning, in the extremities
Symptoms in children are often different:
• Most children are obese or to be overweight
• Increased urination is mild or even absent
• Many children develop a skin problem called acanthosis, which is characterized by velvety, dark colored patches of the skin
