Ectrodactyly, generally known under the name of lobster claw syndrome. Ectrodactyly is often combined with the dysplasy of Ectodermal and split Lip/Palate like syndrome of the EEC. Ectrodactyly is a defect of birth which causes the malformation of the hands and/or the feet. Ectrodactyly is relatively rare, occurring approximately once in 90.000 births. It has several types, and all are genetic. However, the transmission of the condition seldom occurs. The most common symptoms found in the patients presenting the syndrome of the EEC are: fingers and/or toes absent or irregular, anomalies of the hair and glands, lip and/or palates of crack, or devices facial not very common, as well as of the anomalies of the eyes and the urinary tract.

There are two other syndromes ectodermal dysplasy which resemble almost the EEC which the syndrome is initially the syndrome of rapp-hodgkin (RHS) and the syndrome ankyloblepharon-ectodermal of lip and palate of defect-crack (AEC). These syndromes divide some of the specific results of the syndrome of the EEC, but differ from the important manners. The syndrome of Rapp-Hodgkin (RHS) is another type of ED related on the lip of crack and the palate. The syndrome of Hay-Well (HWS), also known under the name of syndrome anklyloblepharon-ectodermal of lip and palate of dysplasie-crack.

The syndrome of Hay-Well (HWS) is one several syndromes which affect the ectoderm and the structures which do not derive from the ectoderm. The scalp hair is sparse and wiry, while the eyelashes are sparse or absent. The nails may be absent or malformed, and the teeth and sweat glands may also be affected. There are many treatments available ectrodactyly granting symptoms. These treatments include the surgery, the dental care, the prevention of the complications of the hypohydrosis, and other treatments preventive. Medical interventions are required to help to preserve the skin which suffers from the lack of glands of sweat and becomes fragile.
