One of the more common traditional treatments of anorexia is mixing a drink made from a handful of the seeds of caraway and hops. This is especially recommended for the loss of appetite following a serious debilitating illness. Other remedies include angelica, barley, carrots and watercress because they are thought to stimulate the appetite. Herbs that encourage eating and are considered to be appetite stimulants are chamomile, sage, thyme, lavender, tarragon, yarrow, marjoram, hawthorn, myrrh, gentian, wormwood, hops and centaury. Horseradish is also a very good appetite stimulant.

Oranges are extremely beneficial for anorexia. They stimulate the flow of digestive juices and thus help in improVing digestion and appetite.

Ginger: Ginger has certain elements that help you regain your lost appetite. So including a good amount of ginger can help you to come out of your disorder.

Lime: It is also one of the valuable remedies for anorexia as it helps you in restoring your normal appetite. Lime mixed with ginger proves very effective in this.

Oranges: Oranges help to stimulate the production of various digestive juices in the stomach and thus improves your whole digestive system. The outcome is clearly an increased appetite.

Garlic: Garlic has a direct impact on your whole digestive system and thus increases your appetite.

The application of an ice-bag over the stomach and a cool hip bath once or twice a day can be beneficial. An outdoor life and abdominal massages are advised.

Apples are another variety of fruit useful in anorexia. They help digestion by stimulating the flow of pepsin, a protein-digesting enzyme, in the stomach.

All-fruit diet

After the juice fast, the patient may adopt an all-fruit diet for a further five days, taking three meals a day of juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grape-fruit, oranges, pineapple, peaches, and melons, at five-hourly intervals. Restricted diet of cooked vegetables , juicy fruits etc Thereafter he may adopt a restricted diet of easily-digestible foods, consisting of lightly cooked vegetables, juicy fruits, and buttermilk for about ten days.
