Many people think that they only need to deal with the onslaught of dry skin during the winter months. And they would be correct in thinking this especially with the icy cold winds hitting against the face. But for some people dry skin is very much an every day problem and summer time can be just as worse as the winter time.
Summer can be bad, as people generally sweat a lot more and therefore feel more inclined to take a shower or bath. It is this action that can strip away from the skin essential oils that are needed in order to keep the skin lubricated.
Another problem during the summer is that people like to sun bathe and hopefully get a golden tan. What they do not realise is that sun bathing does no more than essentially burn the skin and again essential oils that are needed are being taken away. It is important therefore that if you are a sun bather that you keep your skin as lubricated as much as possible especially when out in the sun that you apply sun lotion or sun block.
You should also not forget to reapply the sun lotion or sun block to your skin even after you have been swimming or taken shower, regardless if the manufacturer states that the lotion is waterproof. It only takes a few moments to reapply and it is better to be safe than sorry.
And sun lotion or sun block that you do use should have a good SPF and you do not want to take any chances with your skin as you could be dealing with more than dry skin at some point. Other more serious problems could be skin that is burnt and sore as well as skin cancer.
One of the solutions that you need to adopt in order to remove sun block from your skin without the need to shower more than you need to is to make sure that you are using gels that actually contain creams within them. This is important to ensure that you are keep your skin moisturised and that you taking steps in preventing your skin from becoming dry.
But it does not stop there. You should also invest in an all over body lotion and apply this to your skin once you have stepped outside the shower and ideally you should apply the lotion to your skin whilst your skin is still damp.
Applying a body lotion to damp skin will help to retain and lock in that moisture from your shower and will help to keep your skin soft as well as being free from any dry patches.
Another favourite pastime during the summer months is that of swimming and if you are in the pool a great deal then you not just subjecting your skin to water but also to the chemicals that have been added to the water such as chlorine. This alone can have a drying effect on the skin, and to make matters worse, people think that showering after being in the pool will help.
It will help clean the skin, but going from one source of water to another is just making matters worse as you are just taking essential oils away that are very much needed in order to keep the skin soft and lubricated.
