Perhaps you may have already seen the adds that above ground pool manufacturers are putting out, claiming that the average homeowner can build one of their above ground pool themselves. Is there any amount of truth to these claims? Also, how “average” is the average homeowner that they are referring to in these adds? After a close examination of the pools and the results of homeowners that did in fact, construct their above ground pools themselves, it has been determined that these adds are in fact, truthful. However; there are some variables that can come in to play. For instance, you will need at least one extra set of hands and the ability to perform basic tasks such as measuring and installing screws, nuts and bolts.
Some Basic Hand Tools
Also, you will need some basic hand tools such as an electric screw driver and a measuring tape. Another thing that you will need is a good dose of common sense, so you don't end up attempting to build your pool in the middle of a heat wave in a shadeless back yard. Other than that, if you can read a set of simple instructions you are good to go.
A Deep End Needs to Be Excavated
An above ground pool with a deep end is an entirely different story though, because the deep end, of course has to be excavated. This also can be done by you with a rented backhoe, but it is highly advisable that you know how to operate one if you are considering this option. What most homeowners do in this case, is to pay one of the local “tractor guys” to do it for them.
A Three Day Job From Start to Diving In
Above ground pool manufacturers and marketers have literally had decades to work the bugs out of their systems and they know just where you are going to experience any problems if you do. This is why they all have people waiting online to walk you through any problems that you may have while you are putting your above ground pool together. If all goes right the whole project should only take about three days and your pool will be filled with water, ready for you and your kids to dive in.
