I have been playing golf (or a reasonable facsimile of the game) for more then half my life and it still is the most awkward and non-sensei cal game that I have participated in. But, like everyone else, I play on. The game is one of skill, and, in my own experience a whole lot of luck.

Playing golf has opened up a few other opportunities for me when it comes to travel.

Not too many places in the United States hold some of the best golf courses then Arizona. The 48th state is home to The Wyndham Canoa Ranch Resort. They offer some of the most amazing golf packages that would accommodate any type of golfing enthusiast. From the weekend warrior to the ‘A’ player in anyone’s group, they have options of playing anywhere from 1-10 rounds of golf on your vacation. Of course, golfers are not the only ones coming out to enjoy this wonderful resort. The tranquility and the amazing scenery that can only be found in Arizona attract the romantics as well; they have a special package for them.

If you are not easily distracted by breathtaking mountain views and an overall pristine and tranquil atmosphere while playing, head north of the border. The Fairmont in the Canadian Rockies has a mountain golf and breakfast package. This package engulfs the true meaning of the “Great Outdoors”. Not only will you enjoy a round of golf including breakfast for two, but with the mountains of the Canadian West right outside your door, this package is perfect for any lover of nature. Starting at $189, this is one package that you shouldn’t make a ‘bogey’ on.

Hawaii has always conjured up images of surf and sand in my subconscious. Of people with their long-boards piggy-backing on some giant waves that the oceans produce. Mountain tops that extend way above the clouds, and sunsets that leave you wondering exactly where earth ends and heaven begins. Of course, Hawaii is much more than that. Located along the west coast of Maui, Kapalua warns you that “when you embrace Kapalua, time stands still” and truer words have never been spoken. They offer a ‘stay and play’ package where each guest can enjoy either golf amenities or get pampered like you deserve. Massages, manicures, mountain tours and, of course, golf are all on the menu at this exciting resort. $279 gets you in.

Coming back to the mainland, South Beach, Florida is our next stop. ‘South Beach’ – the mere mention of the name ignites excitement, warm tropical breezes and of course, the most fashionable and beautiful people anywhere. Among all the hustle and bustle of the party goers and sun soakers, a new play ground has been constructed with a 1920’s feel. The Gansevoort South Hotel & Spa is a magnet for trendsetters. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it is the southern outpost of New York City’s Hotel Gansevoort. Offering fine boutiques, restaurants, lounges and more than 100,000 sq ft gym & spa, very few places in South Beach can compare. If this sounds all too good to be true, then pinch yourself and book it now. They are having a grand opening blow out where you can make fantasy a reality. $99 allows you to experience everything that this resort has to offer.

If you’re more a 4-Diamond Resort kind of person, then turn your head to this 4 night package at this luxurious resort. The Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa is a very nice blend of the Caribbean and the high rolling lifestyle of a Las Vegas gaming hall. $412.50+pp: with some great extras like $250 or more of resort credit and your 4th night free.

Traveling comes in so many shades. Whether you’re a golfer or just someone who enjoys being outside. Whether you’re a beach comber or one that likes to relax under the shade of a huge palm tree, or a trend setter out to paint the town red, or simply like to live in a life of luxury, it doesn’t mean you have to pay for it.
