The bills are piling up. Your boss is telling you about how he intends to avail offset printing for your next material. You have everything in place. Coffee, check. Updated PC, check. Notepad with all the characters name, check. Picture of your muse, check. The drive to write, cross.
What does this mean? This is every writer’s dilemma, the so-called writer’s block. This is something that even the promise of the best offset printing for your next book won’t do the trick. There are many reasons why this happens. Here are some.
1. You are tired.
2. You are not feeling inspired.
3. You cannot think of any new ideas.
4. Something about the current affairs made you feel depressed.
5. Someone important to you said something negative about your previous works.
6. You are pressured by the great sales that your last work has achieved.
7. You are worried about something.
8. You are frustrated with how things are going.
9. You are threatened by other writers.
10. You no longer feel satisfied with what you are doing.
There are many more reasons why writer’s block happens. If you are a blogger or a hobbyist, you can just let this pass by and not really mind it. But if this is your bread and butter, then you must be alarmed.
Your salary will depend on how much creativity you will pour into your work. How can you function if you will not find a cure to your situation? You don’t need to buy expensive medicines or go to a specialist. You just have to try one of the following and see what will work for you.
1. Read your previous works. Read the materials that have garnered praises from your loved ones and colleagues. Sometimes when you feel like you can no longer write any thing, this will do the trick.
By reading the words you’ve written before, you will be amazed at yourself. This will also pose a challenge for you to top that off. You have done such masterpiece before. Dare yourself to do the same, if not better materials.
2. Brainstorm ideas with friends or other people. Sometimes it helps to hear other people’s opinions and how they think in order to write the right words. You will feel more confident about what you are doing.
3. Interview people. This will help you broaden your knowledge about the emotions of other people. You will know how they live their lives and how they cope with problems. This will help you with your craft, especially if you are into fiction materials. You will be able to give more justice to your characters by giving them problems that real people go through.
4. Listen to music
This usually do the trick most especially if you are writing love stories. There are many songs that you can relate to the story that you are developing. Just listen well and write right away after you have been inspired. Do not let the drive pass by.
Tell your boss to set the date for that offset printing. With these tips, you will surely get rid of that writer’s block.
