The sales launch of the fully redesigned Teana luxury sedan was announced by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. at dealers across Japan. Teana has been engineered and designed to provide lasting value in a modern luxury sedan by means of its its modern styling, impressive ride comfort and thoughtful appointments for all passengers. The tagline "SHIFT hospitality" marketed the Teana reflecting its new dimension of hospitality, superb comfort and quiet, roomy interior.

Teana offer a number of significant "first" counting the first Nissan model in the Japanese market to utilize the newly developed “D” platform and the first in its class to feature a stylish glass roof.
