Amalaki -- The Super Nutrient

It is a medium sized tree that grows from eight to eighteen meters in height. Its flowers are a greenish-yellow color. The fruit also has a light greenish-yellow appearance and is round in shape. It thrives throughout the countries of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and the Mascarene Islands. This tiny fruit is for the most part "unknown" in the western world. But, it has played an important role in Indian Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. Amalaki is considered to be the best herbal medicine for rejuvenation in Ayurveda. It is hailed by many as a "nutritional giant".

Ayurvedic Medicine ....What Is It?

Ayurvedic is a very old medical system that originated in India thousands of years ago. It is considered to be a complementary and alternative medicine, or CAM. Ayurveda embodies diet and herbal remedies. it stresses the use of body, mind, and spirit when treating and preventing disease.

Health Benefits Of Amalaki Fruit

The Amalaki fruit is a nutritional powerhouse of disease fighting antioxidants, polyphenols, bioflavinoids, tannins, amino acids, trace minerals, and phytonutrients. It is believed to be the most concentrated natural source of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) on earth.

Researchers have determined that the fruit contains powerful antioxidants that repair damaged cells and improve immune function. Studies have shown that it lowers blood cholesterol levels, which reduces the risk of heart disease and strokes.

Research has shown that it helps prevent hyperlipidemia, which is commonly associated with high levels of blood fats.

Amalaki fruit also contains a very powerful enzyme commonly referred to as a SOD. That's the short version for super oxide dismutase. A SOD acts as a scavenger that roams the body looking for dangerous "free radicals" and removes them. The removal of these damaged cells actually helps to reverse the aging process.

Tests have shown that Sod increases energy production in cells, which reduces tissue damage to the heart, pancreas, skin, kidneys, and intestines.

Results from intensive research have demonstrated that Amalaki is a remarkably good food choice for digestion. Naturally occurring acids in the fruit are known to be very advantageous to the digestive process.

Recent studies have shown that Amalaki fruit has a wonderful healing effect on gastric ulcers.

Quercetin is a powerful biofavonoid that is found in the coloring of Amalaki and other fruits. It has strong antioxidant, anti inflammatory, and anti cancer properties. It is even known to fight prostrate cancer in men.

Ellagic Acid has been found to slow the growth of tumors caused by certain types of harmful carcinogens. There is also some evidence that suggests it assists the liver in removing cancer causing substances from the bloodstream.

Amalaki is also the main ingredient in Ayurveda medicine used to treat hair and scalp problems.
