The Edge is a premium mid-size crossover SUV manufactured by Ford. It made its public debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in January 2006.

The turbocharged Sport trim of the Ford Edge debuted at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. It is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in 6 trims, ranging from the SE FWD to the Limited AWD. The new Ford Edge Sport is designed to instantly appeal to crossover customers who want a sportier custom look and feel.

“The SE FWD is equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 265-horsepower engine that achieves 16-mpg in the city and 24-mpg on the highway. The Limited AWD is equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 265-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.” With these specifications, the Edge delivers spirited performance, fuel efficiency and a smooth, quiet ride.

The Edge exterior features modern styling that sets it apart from more traditional boxy SUVs. It even became sportier. It is available in a 22-inch polished aluminum wheels or the standard 20-inch premium painted wheels with branded center hubs. Its bold chrome grille adds to its presence. Low-profile, 40-series Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires complete the look, giving Edge Sport an aggressive stance.

It has unique features such as the VistaRoof™ and SYNC. Edge Sport is available in Ebony, Brilliant Silver and Redfire.

Edge has an exceptionally roomy cabin and comfortable rear seats. It has dark gray leather seats that feature a unique suede-feel patterned inserts in a combination of light and dark gray. With just a press of a button the rear seats automatically reclines to give a 70 cubic feet of storage. And even when the rear seats are in place there's a reasonable amount of cargo room.

Standard safety features on all models include front impact, front seat-mounted side-impact, and front/rear curtain airbags, four wheel anti-lock brakes, AdvanceTrac electronic stability control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. According to usnews.rankingsandreviews.com “The 2008 Ford Edge does extremely well in federal government crash tests, earning a top score of five stars for driver safety and four stars for passenger safety in frontal crash tests and five stars for both the front and rear seats in side crash tests.”

It isn't a truck nor with truck parts. Nor is it a minivan. Yet it's more than a car. There's no denying that the Ford Edge is a striking vehicle.
