Josh Howard injured his right ankle midway through the first quarter of the game. He will have an MRI exam Thursday, but X-rays taken previously showed no break. The Suns are concerned about Marion, who had 24 points and 13 rebounds, but appeared to hurt his left ankle in the final minutes.
Bell sustained a left calf injury with 5:27 left in the game. He didn't put any weight on his leg when he was helped off the court by basketball teammates. He had eight points in 36 minutes. Bell left the locker room helped by crutches.
Howard walked off the court carefully with 6:01 left in the first quarter. He already had six points on 3-of-4 shooting. Howard's flexibility and defensive skill make him potentially a key figure this series. Additionally, Mavs is 21-0 this season when he got at least 20 points, including twice in the playoffs.
