The personal Taser is an effective self-defense device that not only is highly portable, but provides an excellent option for those who wish to have the availability of a defensive tool without having an actual firearm in the home.

How it Works :

The personal Taser is designed to disburse two metal barbs that attach to an attacker’s skin or clothing. Electricity is generated by the personal Taser and transmitted through two wires to the barbs, allowing a debilitating shock of 50,000 volts to be delivered to the attacker. The shock temporarily disrupts transmissions between the brain and the body, rendering the attacker helpless. The attacker will become rigid and fall to the ground while the shock is being delivered, and will be left feeling stunned for a few seconds after the shock has ceased.

Personal Taser barbs are designed to penetrate skin and clothing, but may be ineffective if the attacker is wearing particularly thick or heavy clothing. The barbs typically will penetrate up to two inches of clothing, but they need to fully penetrate in order to be effective. Also, both barbs need to attach to the attacker in order to provide a complete circuit for the electricity to transmit.

Some models come with a stun feature called a drive stun that allows the owner to provide a contact stun to an attacker. In this use, the personal Taser works like a stun gun.

Differences between the Citizen’s Personal Taser and the Law Enforcement Taser :

The personal Taser designed for citizen protection comes equipped with a 15 foot air cartridge, for use in closer-quarters. Law enforcement has the option of purchasing cartridges with ranges up to 35 feet. The longer range increases the chances that one or both barbs will miss the target, so the closer range cartridges are important in increasing accuracy for the user.

The law enforcement version of the non-personal Taser allows for five-second cycles, which can be overridden by the user but require a constant trigger pull. The citizen’s version of the personal Taser allows ten second cycles that, when activated concurrently, can allow for a full 30 second activation, even after the trigger has been released.

Both of these features combine to allow the citizen the greatest opportunity to render an attacker helpless, release the Taser, and run to safety.

The personal Taser has been providing non-lethal self defense options to private citizens since 1994, and their products have proven to be highly effective. They come in a variety of colors and patterns, including animal print and camouflage, to allow for personalization. Personal Tasers can also be equipped with a variety of options, including a camera fitting that allows for up to one and a half hours of recording time that will work even in zero lighting conditions.

Personal Tasers provide the ability for the owner to put a stop to threats that are up to 15 feet away, or utilize the stun feature for up-close contacts. They are the most reliable self defense device when used under stress, and have the least likelihood of causing permanent injuries. Personal Tasers are legal to carry in most states, and will work when deployed on any part of the human body.
